My work is inspired by the Australian landscape, more specifically the Outback and the deserts.
Working on wood or stretched canvas, using only natural material, for example egg shells, cooked sand, pebbles and bark , applied with gesso, gyprock and oil paints.
They incorporate the macro view, often aerial, to the microscopic patterns created by ageing, weather or insects.
Expressing the reality but teasing out the abstract.
It is my intention to convey the slow seductive rhythm of the ancient sand rivers still winding their way between rocky outcrops to the heart of Australia... the ephemeral... Kati Thanda (Lake Eyre)
